I'm Steve, and I make bespoke furniture from my workshop in Stockport.

I started RECUT in 2017, combining my love of making things with a desire to do it in a more responsible way. Since then, my business has grown from smaller pieces made from reclaimed timber, into bespoke commissions for homes, cafes, offices and other businesses.

I make everything myself, from the first conversation and design through to building and installation. Every project is different, and I enjoy working out how to make something that looks fantastic, and works properly for the space it's made for.

I work with solid timber, choosing materials carefully, and using responsibly sourced hardwoods, fully traceable back to the tree. I also use reclaimed wood, and FSC-certified pine.

Good furniture should last.

That's why I care about making things properly, rather than quickly. I want my furniture to be useful, well made and still worth keeping years later.

Sustainability has always been important to RECUT. I choose materials carefully, minimise workshop waste, and use responsibly sourced timber. I also offset my carbon through Climate Stewards, contributing more than my estimated annual footprint.
